THE MAYFLOWER 400 YEARS ON

Author and broadcaster Rebecca Fraser will deliver the annual Tom Olsen Lecture: "The Mayflower 400 years on: the Pilgrim Fathers and their quest for freedom” The Olsen Lecture is one of numerous events being held this year throughout the UK and USA to mark this important anniversary.

The event will be streamed live from St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street - where there are numerous memorials to the Pilgrim Fathers and where the parents of Edward Winslow, one of the Fathers and future Governor of Massachusetts, were married in the late 16th Century -on Thursday 8th October at 6.30pm and will be free to watch for all who register.

Rebecca will focus on the freedoms that the Fathers were striving for and the struggles they faced, and will draw together the life stories of some of those involved, including Winslow.

Rebecca has written a renowned biography of Charlotte Bronte and has contributed to TLS and the Oldie, as well as making several appearances on national radio. Her latest book “The Mayflower Generation” is published by Penguin Random House.
