Recent analysis by The Local Data Company (LDC) of the openings and closures of supermarkets, convenience stores and discount stores over the last five years, shows that the discounters are now growing at a faster rate than supermarkets and convenience stores. This follows a report published last month that looked at the growth rates of the discounters and supermarkets only. This latest report now adds into the mix convenience stores and where they sit within the overall growth in ‘food/grocery’ outlets.
