IBP is pleased to announce the appointment of David Taylor as President for the next year. The announcement was made at the IBP Summer Party on Wednesday 28 July, which featured a panel discussion on “What does Artificial Intelligence mean for Journalism and Communications?” – a timely theme that also reflects David’s central focus for his term: AI and the built environment. A key part of David’s role will be to provide a voice for IBP, using this platform to highlight the key issues facing the industry and explore how IBP might address them.

David is a long-standing member of IBP, a previous award winner, an IBP Awards judge and a member of the IBP Advisory Group. David will support industry debate through regular thought leadership, stakeholder engagement and advocacy on behalf of IBP’s members and wider community. Through this focus, David will explore how AI and emerging technologies are influencing design, communication, reporting and the way we understand the places around us.
A respected journalist, podcaster, filmmaker, author and consultant, David has written and broadcast extensively on architecture and the built environment. His career spans senior editorial roles at New London Quarterly and The Architects’ Journal, alongside work with titles including Icon, Blueprint and national newspapers.
He is co-owner and editor of Velocity magazine, Consultant Editor at NLA, host of the Detailer podcast and producer of short films on buildings, places and the people who shape them.
