IBP Futures Group – Digital Journalism with The Guardian & Wall Street Journal

Reckon you are digitally savvy? If you’re are a B2B journalist then this might be wishful thinking.

The IBP’s Futures Group, in conjunction with City University, invites you to come and learn from two of the UK’s top digital hacks about how to up your game on social media and reader engagement at an exclusive event on 28th April. Hear about the cutting edge approaches to digital journalism being rolled out at The Guardian and The Wall Street Journal and how they could be applied at business magazines.

Who?

Martin Belam, Social and New Formats editor at The Guardian: Martin is a designer and journalist who has previously worked at the BBC, Sony, and Trinity Mirror (where he launched the brilliant UsVsTh3m & Ampp3d) before returning to the Guardian. @martinbelam

Sarah Marshall, Social Media Editor at The Wall Street Journal: Sarah is a journalist at the WSJ where she leads on social media and is lecturer of the Interhactives course at City University. She has been a driving force behind the Hacks/Hackers meetup group and newsroom digital innovation. @sarahmarshall

When?

Thursday 28th April

6.30pm – Registration and drinks

7pm – Open session chaired by Nick Duxbury, Executive Editor, Inside Housing followed by Q&A

8.30pm – networking drinks at The Albert pub across the road.

Where?

Southside, Edelman UK, 105 Victoria Street, London

As with the previous event on investigative journalism, there will be a free bar courtesy of Edelman, and networking drinks in a pub across the road afterwards for those who are still thirsty. Tickets are free, but numbers are very limited so will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
