Joining IBP

Awards
Annual awards are made by IBP to the best journalists in the following sectors. Each award is commercially sponsored and judged by an independent panel.
IBP Architectural Journalist of the Year
IBP Building Journalist of the Year
IBP Civil Engineering Journalist of the Year
IBP News Reporter of the Year
IBP Environmental Journalist of the Year
IBP Business/Financial Journalist of the Year
IBP Commercial Property Writer of the Year
IBP Housing Journalist of the Year
IBP Young Journalist of the Year
IBP Magazine of the Year
In addition there is a separate IBP Journalist of the Year Award judged from the winners of the other categories.
Services
IBP Press Card
Issued annually to all members, it carries requests in four languages (English, French, German and Spanish) for assistance to be given to the holder. Members have found it invaluable when reporting in many parts of the world, not least in the UK.

IBP Bulletin
Established in 1978 and issued free of charge to all members. It has an independent editorial policy and reports matters of general interest, forthcoming events, summaries of IBP meetings, news among publishing houses and job movements. Letters and reports are welcomed from all members for publication.

IBP Directory
Established in 1994 and put online in May 2001, it is free of charge to all members. Lists UK editors, journalists, freelance writers and in-house and consultant PROs, together with industry organisations and a European media section.

Membership
IBP membership is open to:
Architectural, construction and property business journalists.
Specialist architectural, construction and property journalists in the national and regional press.
Freelance writers in these sectors.
Press and public relations officers in architectural, construction and property organisations.
Public relations officers working specifically on architectural, construction and property industry accounts.
Membership applications must be submitted to the committee for approval. IBP is primarily a journalists' organisation and membership is at all times maintained to ensure that journalists form the major proportion of the total membership.
Subscriptions
The subscription to IBP is modest and is payable annually in November to cover the period 1 January to 31 December. The current annual subscription is shown on the attached application form. Cheques should be made payable to IBP (UK Branch) and remittances (returnable if application is rejected) should accompany application.
